When looking for budget tech products such as keyboards, mice, and headsets, you’ll often come across the brand Redragon.
With the majority of Redragon items coming in at a lower price than the competition, are they any good?
Redragon products such as keyboards, mice, and headsets, often offer a decent value for the price. Although they won’t always be quite as good as more expensive products, they can offer great value for the investment.
Let’s dive a bit deeper into each of their product types and talk about what sort of quality you can expect to receive.
At this point we’ve reviewed a half-dozen Redragon products, so we’ll give you our unbiased opinion based on hands-on experience.
Redragon Keyboards: Are They Good?
Redragon is a company that is most known for their budget mechanical keyboards, so let’s look at what you can expect from these products.
True Mechanical Keyboards For a Low Price
At the low price Redragon keyboards come at, most other brands would offer a “mechanical-feel” or membrane style keyboard, but instead Redragon offers true mechanical switches.
Being able to purchase a real mechanical keyboard at such a low price, really opens the door to a people who want the mechanical experience without paying an arm and a leg.
But keep in mind, there are some trade-offs.
A Cheaper Clone Switch Lowers the Price
Redragon cuts the cost of their boards by using a cheaper clone switch.
Instead of opting for a reputable switch brand such as Cherry MX or Gateron, Redragon opts for Outemu switches.
Often marketed as “Cherry MX feel”, Outemu switches fall into the department of ok for the price, but they don’t last quite as long as Cherry MX switches.
They also tend to feel a bit inconsistent from switch-to-switch.
If you want a mechanical keyboard for a budget price, they get the job done, but they will never be quite as good as better switch brands.

Full RGB Lighting
For those who are new mechanical keyboards, the RGB lighting experience is often highly sought-after.
Redragon delivers on this expectation with vibrant per-key lighting and a satisfying amount of different lighting settings.
Getting a full mechanical keyboard with RGB lighting offers you the features and experience that a big name brand would sell for upwards of twice the price.
That’s right, for the same features from a big brand, expect double the price.
Keep in mind, Redragon keyboards will use cheaper parts and don’t have quite the same amount of software support, but they get you 80% of the way there for half the cost.
Other Areas Where The Quality Is Lower
On top of the switches, Redragon saves cost in other areas as well. Here is what you can expect from one their mechanical keyboards:
- ABS Keycaps: The keycaps will usually be thinner and less durable. Over time they will get shiny and start to look greasy. Read more on ABS vs PBT keycaps.
- Non-detachable power cable: On higher-end keyboards, a detachable keyboard is preferred. It makes the keyboard more portable and if the cable breaks, it’s easily replaceable. With Redragon, the cable will be attached to the board.
- Rattily Stabilizers: For a cheaper keyboard, you can’t expect perfect stabilizers. Expect the larger keys to rattle and shake a bit more than an expensive board.
Redragon does offer a few higher-priced items, but for the keyboards in the ~$50 range, you can expect this standard of quality.
Like I said before, it’s good for the price, but it won’t replace a higher quality keyboard.
Should You Get A Redragon Keyboard?
I guess if you’re reading this, you’re trying to decide if you want to purchase a Redragon product.
If your budget is stuck at around $50 and can’t be pushed higher at all, Redragon mechanical keyboards can be a really good pick. The fact that you can get all of the features of a higher-end board is awesome.
Just don’t expect the same quality and performance.
If it were up to me personally, I would save up to the $80-100 range as there are much better options in that price range.

Redragon Mice: Are They Good?
Another popular product offering from Redragon is their mice.
Coming fully decked out with macro keys, RGB lighting, and adjustable DPI settings, many of their mice are well worth the price.

Keep in mind, the features will differ based on the product offering.
While they don’t offer quite as much of a cost-savings as their keyboards, Redragon mice still bring lots of value to the table.
When compared to bigger brands such as Logitech and Corsair, the number of features packed into a low-cost mouse is quite impressive.
Similar to the budget keyboards, there are some downsides.
You can often expect the build quality to be a bit more flimsy and not quite as durable. The mouse will feel lighter and more creaky when you try to twist it.
But for the price, Redragon offer the features of a more expensive product but with slightly lower quality.

Redragon Headsets: Are They Good?
Another product we were really impressed by is their headset.

The amount of comfort and durability offered by this headset make it one of the better headsets in the under $50 department.
With pretty good sound quality and a durable build, we were blown away by this headset.
While we haven’t tried the cheaper Redragon headset product offerings, the Zeus is a great pick and is definitely worth the price.
The other headsets really dive even deeper into the budget department, but for headsets it’s often hard to recommend anything cheaper than $50 as the quality tends to take a nose-dive.

A Look At Other Redragon Peripherals
On top of keyboards, mice, headsets, Redragon actually offers a wide variety of different products including speakers, webcams, and more.
To make this article more complete, we got our hands on a webcam and speaker to test them out.
Based on our experience with both, they seem to perform about as well as you would expect.
The speakers can either be assembled to be a full sound bar or detached if you want to put them in the corners of your desk. The sound quality is pretty good, overall.
The webcam offers good enough video quality for Zoom meetings or streaming, but won’t blow your socks off by any means.
When looking at Redragon products, you can always expect them to be “good for the price” but not high-quality or amazing.
Conclusion
Redragon as a brand has really exploded over the past few years, now being offered in big box stores such as Microcenter.
Due to their decent quality, low-prices, and high availability, Redragon has become a brand people trust.
If you’re looking for budget products or your first gaming keyboard, mice, or headset, Redragon can be a great entryway into gaming peripheral products.
Just keep in mind, while it’s good for the price, their products won’t replace the experience of higher-end option.
